1. Naomi Judd | Born in 1946

The Kentucky-origin singer, known for country music passed away this year due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Academy award winner was enduring mental illnesses. Her last performance was on the ballad ‘Love can build a bridge’ with her celebrity daughter Wynonna Judd.

The mother-daughter duo was a famous name in the early 1990’s. The duo won 5 Grammy awards in country music. The 76-year old singer suffered from depression throughout her life which ended in a tragic death. 

2. Bob Neuwirth | Born in 1939

Robert Bob Neuwirth, American folk singer, songwriter and record producer passed away this year in May due to heart failure. This 82-year old singing talent is known for his the famous song Mercedes Benz which was co-written with Janis Joplin. Musical numbers such as Lucky too, Biding Her Time, Rosalie, Ocean Life, Winter in Berlin, Dazzled by Diamonds gave him acclaimations as a folk singer. He also had associated with Bob Dylan and contributed in the classical music for years. 

3. Mickey Gilley | Born in 1936

Another country music persona, Mickey Gillie passed away this year at the age of 86. He was behind the inspiration of the 1980’s  movie ‘Urban Cowboy’ and famous for the country music Honky Tonk Gilley’s. His hit songs like Stand By Me, True Love Ways, Fool for Your Love, Room Full of Roses gave him popularity and every other song was unique in tones and appeals. Not only with the amazing songs, he also used to amuse people with his piano skills. 

4. Judy Henske | Born in 1936

Judith Anne Henske renown as "the Queen of the Beatniks" and we heard the singer death 2022 at the age of 85 after a  prolonged illness. She was famous for her deep alto voice, and a comic stage presence. 

High Flying Bird, Snowblind, Love Henry, Road to Nowhere, Till the Real Thing Comes Along, Baby are some of Judy's noteworthy songs. Survived by a daughter and a granddaughter, Judy showed her skills in various genres like Blue, Folk, Jazz and Show Tunes. 5. Susan Jacks | Born in 1948

This talented singer, eminent songwriter and record producer died at 73. She was about to get a kidney transplant and gave us smashing hits like Which Way You Are Goin Billy in 1969. Her emotive and smooth voice helped her to perform on national TV shows. Her another mega hit I Thought of You Again generated international rank and gave her recognition from all over the world. Susan Jacks used East Indian music and country pop sounds in her songs.

1. KK | Born in 1968

Krishnakumar Kunnath better known as KK, passed away at the age of only 53. His untimely death has shocked his fanbase in India and overseas. Born on 23rd August, this playback Indian Singer died after a massive cardiac arrest. Before he suffered myocardial infarction, performed a Live concert at Nazrul Mancha Kolkata. 

The iconic singer had a robust career and sung in various Indian languages such as Bengali, Hindi, Assamese, Malayalam, Gujrati and more. The late singer will be remembered for his high pitch and mesmerising voice in Alvida from ‘Life in a Metro’, Pal, Ankhon Mein Teri from ‘Om Shanti Om’ Tu Hi Meri Shab Hain from ‘Gangstar’. 

2. Lata Mangeshkar| Born in 1929

The veteran singer and Bharat Ratna recipient captivated her fans till her 92 years of age. Lata Mangeshkar is a name of the living Saraswati, the Goddess of Music, art and learning. The legendary singer suffered multiple organ failure due to her age. The Nightingale of India made a world record of singing more than 30,000 in her lifetime. 

Music enthusiasts will remember her for the melodious voice she possessed and her undying love for music. This versatile singer recorded her songs in more than 36 different languages. Debuted at the age of 13, she presented her fans with evergreen songs like Lag Ja Gale, Piya Tose Naina Lage Re, Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua, Ajeeb Dastan Hain Yeh, Do Pal & Tere Liye from Veer Zaara and the list will go on. She will remain an inspiration for the generations and live forever through her charismatic vocal range. 

3. Bappi Lahiri | Born in 1952

Entire Bollywood became standstill when the news of Disco King’s untimely demise came in news just after 5 days of Lata Mangeswar’s death. This brillian singer and composer took last breath at the age of 69 due to multiple health issues. His Raat Baki Baat Baki, Yaar Bina Chain Kahan Re, Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost, I am a Disco Dancer, Pag Ghungroo Badh, Oo La La from Dirty Picture were major blockbuster hits.

1. Shandhya Mukherjee | Born in 1931

Shandhya Mukhopadhya, also known as Geetashree (eminent singer)  breathed her last at the age of 90 following a massive cardiac arrest. She took Bengali music world to the new heights with her playback songs like 

Her enthralling golder voice entertained music lovers for generations. Her classic duet, Bol Papihe Bol with Lata Mangeshkar in 1951 for the film Tarana brought her ‘Banga Bibhushan’ award. 

Every demise is sad and a loss to the family and friends. But singers are not limited to their friends and family members.
